im just concern that hardcore is not a business and BUSINESS, or ‘rm50 ticket per entry’ , zouk wannabe and mtv victim. So shame on us if they know what going on in our hardcore market and i bet they will hate it for sure. (or maybe). yes poor me because i am ‘malaysian hardcore’ but your grandma is more hardcore than me.

Quite true Madmax, Now days you could see almost everybody wearing a t-shirt saying “Straight Edge” and i bet you they don’t even know what the heck is “Straight Edge”. I don’t have problem with Straight Edge, but being commercialize and Capitalize?, that’s just not right, So basically what the hell is happening to the so called “IM HARDCORE” scene. I’ll let you guys figure that out.
That’s so true and i believe some of us would understand that.
But to call some band as “stupid-oldskoll-konon hardcore moron” does not seems right to me..! You dont even know them bro..
ade org ckp, kalau hardcore kena buang idealogi jauh-jauh..supaya dekat gig, boleh mosh..pastu boleh enjoy..so sape2 yang datang ade idealogi tu kena tinggalkan kat rumah..macam tu eh..aku dengar orang cite kat aku..hehehe…tak tahu la betul ke tak..hehehhe
what’s wrong with being “hardcore sdn bhd”? if they are doing it without stepping on others, i don’t think there are any issues about it. maybe we should define the whole “corporate hardcore” more properly rather than just pointing finger at bands/people that we think to be un-punk just because they have been featured in some glossy rawk mag…

It’s true actually…, I was there when this happen, It happen during this fight at Come Back Kid gig at zouk, They were arguing about some issue and then out of nowhere this dude came and said “hey idealogi-idealogi tak payah nak bukak, kita semua sini music-music je”. It’s actually quite stupid because if idealogi is not so important then what the hell all of us still follow? and during that time the issue has something to do with the idealogi itself, Everybody know Corporation
is not a very good thing, Ahh… what the heck, In my point of view
Punk goes corporate it’s just bad…,
You end up spending all your fight to keep your place under the light
In front of new kids who don’t seem concerned
So we must teach them what we’ve learned
When you’re DIY you don’t have to apologize, you can cut the ties
When you’re DIY there’s no need for compromise, you can be yourself
They can’t take it away: Punk will scream what corporate rock can’t say
It never works to play their game, things always turn out the same
Times have changed but it’s still not funny
They turn rebellion into money
When money’s involved, morals are pliable
You can’t be punk and commercially viable
No message survives, once it becomes buyable
If you want to make a difference keep it DIY-able
It’s time to give a second thought to what’s been gained
And now what’s been lost, once punk was young and dangerous
But now that’s all been taken from us
By an industry a billion dollars strong
That still has nothing on an old school singalong
We can fight, and we can win, it’s time we start this over again

neraka aperkah yg sedang berlaku…???
asyik-asyik nak gaduh jer…. masuk gusti laaa…
buat malu jer kat omputeh tu..
Owh, sweet leaving your idea behind when you are in a show.
Well, I am not really sure about others yet, I do believe that I’d be laughable to have that kind of attitude. So, we were like a part time hardcore (well, I am not that positive to use the term ‘hardcore”, I guess) and we would really fight against racism while we are in a circle of our hardcore friends, but in a same time when we were hanging out with those who are not into the “scene”, then, its ok for us to tolerate to racism, eh?
Why? Cause we have leave it behind. Put it nicely at home and bla bla bla.
Well, hardcore is so fucking dead, I guess. At least for me.
Thanks for the comment. It was really nice and sweet of you.I believe no one is correct and no one is the true one.Non of us is holier than other. We did what we have to by helping friends.Playing in a big festivals Like Zouk was not what we dream of,We played bigger show than this. But unfortunately they paid us Rm 1000 per person. Wich is very good.Since we save the money for our recording, touring and prepare for the next shows and for Choke Cocoi show.We not very rich,we dont have our own studio and our salary is not enough to support everything,You know this if you in a band.Choke Cocoi is our friend,we knew them very well.Butch regala are the manager for that band we know them since 1999.They requested us to do the shows and requested some of this bands. We dont wanna put is as an average shows but more to campaign. And this is not an oldschool fest since you can see its all mixed bands in genre. This time we choose sexism and racism as a campaign since its in May where the Month of the year where 1000 people were killed in a rage race in 1969.We choose few bands that are female fronted at the shows like Regime and Moms on strike so that it wouldnt be monopolize by majority of Male Malay dude like you.
How old are you Max,21?Well would you believe if I told you you be quitting when you get a good job or degree?or maybe when you get married.Ive seen alot people like you,who likes to moaning and complain but did nothing. And at the end you be end up working in a big corporations and at night I be seein you at the night club.Just stop ,moaning at the communities,Show us the right way if you are intelligent and smart. We dont have degree on this.Just dont be such a smart ass in the end your fire in eyes will turning into ice, promises turning into lies.Take care.
I bet you’re a very smart person,Are you university graduate? The way you talk like you know how to manage a bussiness from OXFORD.If theres no bussines in Hardcore/punk then theres no bussiness for Joe kidd too right.Do you expect us to work for employers for the rest of our lives?NO WAY ! Maintaining a shop and a restaurant at the same time where profits and loss are traditions. Can you explain why most of the gigs still asking for the ticket at the door depending on what bands are playing and how much are the venues are.Do you ever put up a show before this?Do you ever pay your bands?Have you ever occur that money play some part to support the bands like equipment, practises, tolls, petrols, food recording and touring?Do you know why did you paid rm 50 at the shows? Its goes to the bands laa .And because of you the promoter get to pay their flight ticket. If you dont like the shows then dont come. Its simple and easy. You know this very well. Then why complain?Because you cant get a beer?owh come on dont cry la.
I would like to recommend to you.Why dont you make a charity show and see how it goes on the 25th of may?the next day after us.No money involve no bussiness making at all just a donation.Would you doit choke cocoi we’ll see will it be succeed.
And what the fuck this got to do with Straight Edge getting commercialize and capitalize?Wouldnt this world be a better place if everyone is sxe? That would be unfair to some people right?some of them still depending on Booze and cigarrettes to live.Let them be what they wanna be just stop telling people how to live their lives. If kids wanna wear SXE shirts let them be.I dont care If people who are not SXE wearing SXE Tshirts anyway. Why do you bother? its not that they are hurting other people.Go fuck other things like why kids wear EMO tshirts and METAL shirts but they are not.
To answer your questions Basically what happens to the so called Im HARDCORE scene.Every one is free to do whatever they want.Everyone is free to break the rules haha.
Next topics ETHICS and DIY someone please explain this.
tersentuh lak jiwa naluri ku yg luhur ni…baca huraian einseconds ni…
walaupun jiwa naluri ku tersentuh…. tetapi aku bukan golongan lelaki gemalai yer….
ETHICS
The branch of philosophy that deals with morality….ethics is concerned with distinguishing between good and evil in the world, between right and wrong human actions, and between virtuous and nonvirtuous characteristics of people…..
DIY
The phrase “do it yourself” came into common usage in the 1950s….
..Is a term used by various communities that focus on people creating things for themselves without the aid of paid professionals….the actual activity of DIY goes back through the ages, since the beginning of time, people have used their own abilities and available tools and technologies to take care of their own needs, make their own clothing, and so on…In recent years, the term DIY has taken on a broader meaning that covers a wide range of skillsets….
…today, for example, DIY is associated with the international alternative, indie and punk hardcore music scenes….members of these subcultures strive to blur the lines between creator and consumer by constructing a social network that ties users and makers close together………there are various communities of media-makers that consider themselves DIY, for example the indymedia network, pirate radio stations, and the zine community…..
….DIY as a subculture arguably began with the punk movement of the 1970s….instead of traditional means of bands reaching their audiences through large music labels, bands began recording themselves, manufacturing albums and merchandise, booking their own tours, and creating opportunities for smaller bands to get wider recognition and gain cult status through repetitive low-cost DIY touring…. the burgeoning zine movement took up coverage of and promotion of the underground punk scenes, and significantly altered the way fans interacted with musicians….zines quickly branched off from being hand-made music magazines to become more personal. zines quickly became the one of youth culture’s gateways to DIY culture, which lead to tutorial zines showing others how to make their own shirts, posters, zines, books, food, etc….
i guess laa…..
Thus begins the endless cycle of the various perspectives of what is punk and what is not. drop the ego shit, stop the ignorance and just take it for as it is. Its a scene killer. might as well educate the bigger society and expand the subculture, instead of barking at other people and shooing them away . Hardcore, punk, whatever, its about the drive and spirit which is against any form of ignorance and generating awareness on whats important in life such as love, truth, justice, friendship, sheer irony etc. while bringing out their ideas and thoughts. As long as they’re not singing about supporting fascist ideals and other negative ignorant crud they’re not really doing any damage right?
Thanks Watai I really need more smart people like you to help us to educate more kids at the shows. Can you give some speeches on stage on this 24th of May?that is you brave enough to reveal yourself.Normally all the smart one prefer to educate among themselves and complaining behind computers insted to the new faces. Are you one of them Watai?
u’re welcome einseconds…actually i’m not the right person to give some speeches on stage (mcm YB laa pulak) especially for subject education like ” to be a good manner at shows”….. one more thing, i’m already revealed myself by this nickname (watai)….because all my friends call me watai…for a new friend like u einsecond (kengkawan panggil awak einsecond kerr…) maybe don’t know me…It’s not a matter of brave or not, its up to you how u wanna judge or label me…;-)
First of all, What the heck does the University Graduate and collage stuff have to do with all this? Im not sure about the shop doing business because if your thinking we’re making a lot of money that’s where your wrong.why?. for all i know the shop does not make any much profits from the selling, We only took like 30% out of the price they put, so basically if you put Rm 2 or Rm5 for your stuff then you calculate how many we get, Sometime we don’t even take the 30% because of why? because we understand how they’re going through and we don’t mind because the shop is all about helping out the scene, helping the old and the new band exposing their stuff and also a place to hang out. Well for employment it’s up the individual, I don’t mind working as an employee as long as i enjoy the job and it could help me survive the wretched world then i’ll be fine. If you want to talk about restaurant i used to work in a restaurant and it’s is so damn different then maintaining a shop, Well honestly i never did a show before but i did help a lot of people do a show from getting PA and all those stuff you need and i sure hell know how they go through all the way and it wasn’t easy. Yes… money does pay a lot of role in life especially when a band travel from far, but the main question is are you playing music for money or for passion and the sake of enjoying it?. Im not sure about you but for me i never ask for money unless i play somewhere far just to cover the transport money but usually they didn’t give any because i understand that they don’t have money them self and eventually i don’t mind because i love playing music and i love touring, you get to learn a lot of stuff from culture to the people and the scene it self rather then just focus on the money which for me is a fair trade. To tell you the truth i never paid Rm50 yet for a show that i one to see, But that doesn’t mean i wont pay. I still go for it if i want to and pay for it. Dude… have i complaint about the show sucks and even be there? Because that phrase is a bit out of line.. maybe you should tell somebody else that really went and said it sucks and complaint about it. Buy a beer? haha i don’t drink, i don’t even smoke for fuck sake.
Seriously Ein i would love to make a charity show for Choke Cocoi because i heard they we’re having problem getting people organize they’re show in Malaysia but since im not that rich and things are last minute i don’t think i can do it and you know how the shop works so don’t expect me to get a high pay. I didn’t help my dad settle the electric bills yet and it sure hell cost around Rm1150 because of pending bill.
Well this world would be good but what’s the used if it just become a trend and nobody give a fuck about the idea. I don’t mind too if they want to wear a “STRAIGHT EDGE” t-shirt, but can you stand it when a person wear the t-shirt, act all macho and tough then later come to you and said “your not Straight Edge, Go hang out somewhere else because your not one of us”. I think you know this statement “Punk support gay, Punk Sampah” and this is made by one of the kids who claim to be Straight Edge, Hardcore and “Punk tak sampai tahap korang”. I know you were there and i know you were watching. Im not blaming all the people into straight edge are like this but some of it is just way off the line and i don’t see anybody doing anything of it. Hurting a lot of people… well that one you have to investigate, There’s been some cases in the city that this kid claim to be hardcore make a gang aka “The Crew” and went out causing trouble. I heard this from a friend of mine who his brother got whack. It’s just ridicoulous.
Well nice talking with you EIN, I just want this thing to go on a right way, not on a lame and bad way… you get me and i know it’s not going to be an easy thing.
tepuk dada tanya selera, boss. tak kenal maka tak cinta.
So when that happens, its time to potong that tali yang berada kat hidung tu and find your way back to WHAT DO YOU WANT.
It’s as simple as that really.
Is this what you want or is that what you want. The powers is in your hands.
And the way to go is to BE YOURSELF and DO WHAT YOU WANT. That’s the basics of DIY, other than that it’s all “ism” and “skism”.
Other people can say this and that, and want you to follow THEIR rules and wishes. They will complain, yell at you and they will try to put you down, but only you know who your are and what you want.
For me, I find all these debates healthy. It gives me ideas, options and things to think about and choose to apply for myself (if it fits lah!)
Sometimes I myself would forget the sanctity of individual choices and wishes and put down some people I feel strongly against, but that’s basic human behaviour la boss. The most important thing is to finally realise that everyone has his or her own choices to take, and NOBODY can stop anyone from taking his or her own steps.
So, the final question is: WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT? GO AND DO IT LA BOSS.
I do agree with you dalam perenggan pertama tue.. We feel the same way la bro..
Kalau lah sebab utama kitorang bermain musik sebab kerana duit, dah lama dah kitorang quit tak pun buat band indie and then go big la.
sebab selama main band nih pun, tak pernah pun sekali kitorang untung, nak kaya? nak focus fulltime playing band? nak jadikan karier? jangan fikirlah. So do you think we’re making a lot of money? or do you still think that we make a very good profit by selling out the show to the businessman? Who is businessman anyway?
Seriously its all about the passion but the truth is we still need money for the sake of the band. Everyone know that. I believe you would understand too. Enjoyed playing music? Of course we do, and i believe everyone of us enjoyed with their kind of music. But again we always fight each other just because we have different taste of music? haha I’ve seen it many times.
About Choke Cocoi, memang banyak sangat masalah, tapi yang paling susah ialah venue. We’ve booked the show at Cheras tapi last minute kena cancel, terpaksa plak cari venue baru and we found that only Pauls Place is available. Where do we get the money to pay for the rent, equipment + PA? Duit show second combat yang kita kumpul sikit-sikit. Duit merch dan CD yang kita jual. Itulah modal nya. If the show went bad, tak ramai orang? we’ll lose that money but if the show went good, MAYBE we can have our money back and spare for our next project. That’s the only things we can do.
Also i’ve seen a lot of kids involve in fight tak kiralah what type of person they are e.g hardcore, metal, punk, skinhead, indie, emo. There’s one cases where i saw a group of punk kids, pergi ‘pau’ budak2 sekolah. Bila budak tu melawan, dia dipukul sampai kepala kena pijak dengan boot yang keras2 tuh. You tell me now, is it fair ke kalau aku keluarkan statement yang kata ” Punk is Sampah”? Takkanlah kerana nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga kan?
So i just keep quite dan tak komen apa2 pun, why? because i know and understand, punk is not about that. I hope you would understand too. Kita cuba nak buat bersungguh-sungguh for the scene itself lah.
“There’s been some cases in the city that this kid claim to be hardcore make a gang aka “The Crew” and went out causing trouble. I heard this from a friend of mine who his brother got whack. It’s just ridicoulous” – This is totally ridicoulous and suck. But why i never heard bout this shit?
“And the way to go is to BE YOURSELF and DO WHAT YOU WANT” -as long as we dont step on others or mengganggu hak orang lain, then i think it would be ok.
I just hope people would understand, maybe we have different taste of music, ideas, but still we share the same things that is our scene. if ideas makes us go separate ways, Im offering my friendship so that we still can shake each others hand when we meet.
oo ok2..patutnya mcm d.i.y pye concept bleh pakai mcm compose sendiri record sendiri..yg mcm2 tuh bleh la..ok2..bukan terikat ek(aku terbabas)..amalkan konsep yang bagus diambilkan..sesuaikan dengan keadaan band anda..
I work in a cafe for 7 years before this,I was tired of the way they treating me and I was tired with the environment,Im getting to old for being order around. The salary was always not enough to pay my bills, rents, debts and support the band.I have to do another job like do some direct selling and insurance, running a distro.I really wanted to own a qualification so i could earn some respect.I dont have a qualifications like SPM,degree or diploma. Its kinda hard for me to survive sometimes to get jobs and all.I can see lots of punk kids enjoying themseves pretending to be poor, studying in expensive college work in a corporate company.Lots of them are from rich families. They have all the money they wanted to play bands to go around and have a good food at home cook by their parents. They dont have to worried for the next day.Thats why some bands they dont complain when didnt get any money to cover their cost of living.I know that I could’nt get money by playing in a band. But by hoping to cover all cost it would be appreciated. We could’nt ask for more that would’nt be nice.
I was thinking that Punk scene are the alternative for me.The ideals, the environment, politics the people inspired me.It was my escape plan.not to scapegoat it but to learn from it and live it.I used to drink alot and smoke dope as every punks did.I’ve been trying to be as punk as I could.I was young and naive non of my brothers gets into college because we were poor and not smart.Violence were the only solutions for me and my brothers. One day I just stop doing everything.I wanted to be clean again.Theres where I got into sxe and also my bandmates. We wanted to change the scene and society perspective towards punks.I know theres lots of good and sincere punks outhere who doing a good thing for the environment and community,I really respect that.
But its a disgrace when seein lots of punks/hc/sxe kids who just just got into punk destroying everything.most of them had less knowledge than us,theres not even fanzines around to educate but most of it are meant to be prejudice and discriminate. All the smart punks does not concern about this when theres thousand of kids going nowhere. What we all do is to complain this and that yadda yadda bla bla bla.Theres no action been taken. Most of them are retiring when they got good jobs and families thats the end of their punk days. When we take the responsibility we get the blame of being non hc,non punks and fucking sellouts bla bla bla.
Most of kids talks like they know everything. But when comes to real life they become so stupid.Supporting unethical industries careless about environment and human beings. And non of this punk kids care about being vegetarians. If you believe in Equality theres should be an ethical between human and animals.Non of punks should consume animals. Please be specific when talking about corporations.Because you might be one of their statistic.
If this relates to DIY then cigarretes should be DIY alcohol should be DIY food should be DIY.Everything should be DIY not just relate this to music scene but to all aspect.Hardcore had become modern now, music is amplified with good system everything is fucking expensive.DIY are revolted from traditional to Modern. No more Tape dubbing, cutting your own lyrics sheets, tshirts are becoming more quality, fanzines are proprinted and colourful.Power of productions all in hands, from pressing, selling, market and distributed it.We still have our bussiness in our hands that is still DIY and no need to explain about it.As long as the bussiness does not falls into other peoples hands we are in control. We are not playing with the same faces everyday,we reaching new faces at every shows to educate and to penetrate with knowledge. We are doing what we wanted, and no one could stop us.Thats Punks should have to live their lives the way they wanted to be without being exploited and discriminated. We had been here for 12 years and we gonna be here for another 12 years.Im sorry if we didnt meet your musical taste but we’ve been sincere enough and prove that we not doing this for name, money or glory If we got famous like minorthreat thats just a bonus for us.
Remember we’re not better and we’re not the best.Theres alots of diffrences between us, accept the facts that we have different idea’s and live a different lifestyle.Live with this then we can get the mutual understanding and respect.Theres thousands of people were killed in Palestine,Iraq,Myanmar,Thailand,Afghanistan,Tibet and more.Do we want more killing and hatred here?
Yo ein..kat sini kau ya.
akupun nak jugak lah! hehe
ok, forum terbuka ya tak?
lagipun hari ni aku tunggu hujan stop nak balik jalan jamm gila.
ofis aku kat TM Asia Life, sebelah Megan Avenue 1, sapa2 ada kerja kat area sini contact lah..aku bosan time office hour tarak gang.
Diy? Actually Comeback Kid tu producer dia Bill Stevenson (Descendents /SST/Black Flag/terbaru Lemonheads) so aku rasa semua tau label pioneer SST Records ni antara label diy yg awal. Apa yang cuba aku sampaikan, maksud aku scene ni kecil pusing2 kat situ jugak. Jadi sebenarnya komunikasi je problem, dan sebenarnya benda nilah yg paling penting dlm perhubungan kita sayang..
Diy? sampai ke hari ni x pernah settle issue ni. Pasal apa? Pasal mana ada kitab punk/hc/whatever yang absolute to what extent is diy. Masing2 define lah sendiri..tapi kalau dah baca MRR sepuluh tahun x phm lagi mmg nak kena tampar!
Ada sekali aku pernah berborak ngan Oz(Naked Butterfly) saja crita psl diy. Korang tau apa jawapannya? Ni kata Oz, “eh dulu kitorang lagi diy dpd korang semua ni, ikat batu bata sendiri nak buat studio, semuanya kitorang set up sendiri” kata dia. Nak ikut kan mmg lah betul diy. Tp zaman tu byk record label(betul2 berniaga punya) yg support badge tu. Korang faham tak apa yg cuba aku cerita ni? Bila pertanyaan di aju pada org yg out of context dpd diy hc/punk scene.
So dlm dunia ni bukan dlm hc/punk jer yg byk beza pendapat, it’s more complex dalam real life. Tepuk punggung korek sendiri! Ops sorry, tp elemen mencarut adalah part yg aku paling suka sekali dlm punk.hehe..It’s ok for me if one punk work with big corporation company. At least we still have friend when help is needed. not an assholes ones! See ya at the pit mofucka! Catch me when I slam! Will ya baby? Yeah i guess you loves me too.
Orait ein.hari jumaat kalau xde apa2 aku contact kau waktu sembayang.
Hmm..lepas aku baca Ein punya komen ni baru aku perasan, betul lah kebanyakan budak2 yg involve dlm hc /punk /indie kat malaysia ni dtg dpd family middle class dan ke atas. Sesiapa yg lahir dlm working class family tu mesti dapat rasa apa yg aku cakap ni.
siot penat aku type x masuk plk tadi.
yo ein..nanti aku contact kau waktu smbyg jumaat ke.
kau keje mana?aku cam biasa la co. construction..
oh ya, dpd komen si ein kat atas ada satu benda yg mmg aku setuju.
Kebyakan scenester /undergrounders culture kat malaysia ni especially mmg lahir dpd family middle-class dan ke atas. Sesapa yg lahir dpd working class family mmg akan faham dan dpt rasa benda ni.
Vegetarian..hmm aku pernah veggie setahun tp bila dah keje line heavy industry ni aku x larat, badan aku lemah dan x cukup nutrien makan sayur je. Tp for sure aku x ambik red meat sampai skg..Sebenarnya vegan /veggie ni mmg dah mcm culture utk Europe/US scene tp kat Asian scene secara average nya punk2 kat sini mkn daging. Cakaplah true mcm mana pun, inilah realitinya. Dia ckp kesian nak lepas ular sawa tu kat tepi jalan takut kena bunuh. Nak bagi pd zoo diorang beli RM3/= je seekor..Kalau korang apa korang buat?
Hmm nanti Gasoline main aku nak bwk lah ular sawa tu. Gimmick skit! haha
hehe..pada pendapat aku la..promote dgn media, jadi media yg control.
orang tgk hc sebagai 1 benda yg cool :),media takkan siarkan
ape2 yg rebel, just bagitau inilah aktiviti anak2 muda..nak reach massa dengan media?kan ikut cara media.

“Well this world would be good but what’s the used if it just become a trend and nobody give a fuck about the idea.
whats wrong is right, whats right is right, whats right is wrong. believe in your heart and be yourself..!
Nama pon media massa duan.. takkan dorang nak tutup periuk nasik dorang sendiri.. skarang ni kan zaman duit.. citer pasal rebel2 kang kene banned dengan ehem ehem.. ahaha… apa yang boleh tarik perhatian umum itulah yang dorang carik.. jadi takkan kita nak salahkan media sebab jadikan hcpunk ni cool. (cool ke jadi hcpunk?)
so.. what can we do? be a media against the media.
jadi takkan kita nak salahkan media sebab jadikan hcpunk ni cool. (cool ke jadi hcpunk?)
so.. what can we do? be a media against the media. – kenet.
habis tu , salahkan band yang kononnya hcpunk ,tetapi gunakan media yg kononnya untuk spread msg ” be a media against the media ” , tiba-tiba lain pula yg jadi, media telah gunakan untuk menjadikan hcpunk ini cool. satu lagi produk baru dari media muncul. siapa yang guna siapa? hahaha
this is a zine, an archive, a blog, an event calendar, a place where rock’n’roll, especially of the fringe + underground, independent, DIY Â and related, came to be highlighted, promoted and documented.
running as a scene-blog since 2004, this website was operating as The Ricecooker Shop‘s portal from early 2007. TRS was a physical, brick’n’mortar music store first based at the Annexe, Central Market for more than three years, before moving on to two different locations in the city.
three years after the shop closed down in 2014, it morphed into a library/museum or an archive. we call this The Ricecooker Archives – Southeast Asian Rock’n’Roll Treasury (quite grand, we know).
The Ricecooker Archives have our own space at 84B, The Zhongshan Building, Jalan Rotan, Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur. here we collect, collate, clean-up, digitize, database and archive rock’n’roll artifacts from around the region. our aim is to preserve and to share it with the world.
note: the setting up our physical archives is still on-going, so those who wanna come meet and visit, do get in touch with us first. terima kasih.

Madmax is mad.. hahaha
kesian dengan diri sendiri la dulu .. heee
HAHA madmax ..suka tgk ko merungut ..macam nenek aku serba bagus.
im just concern that hardcore is not a business and BUSINESS, or ‘rm50 ticket per entry’ , zouk wannabe and mtv victim. So shame on us if they know what going on in our hardcore market and i bet they will hate it for sure. (or maybe). yes poor me because i am ‘malaysian hardcore’ but your grandma is more hardcore than me.
hardcore for sell..fuck yeah!

So what we supposed to call them?
“Hardcore Sendirian Berhad”??
Is it cool?
ade org ckp, kalau hardcore kena buang idealogi jauh-jauh..supaya dekat gig, boleh mosh..pastu boleh enjoy..so sape2 yang datang ade idealogi tu kena tinggalkan kat rumah..macam tu eh..aku dengar orang cite kat aku..hehehe…tak tahu la betul ke tak..hehehhe
what’s wrong with being “hardcore sdn bhd”? if they are doing it without stepping on others, i don’t think there are any issues about it. maybe we should define the whole “corporate hardcore” more properly rather than just pointing finger at bands/people that we think to be un-punk just because they have been featured in some glossy rawk mag…
“ade org ckp, kalau hardcore kena buang idealogi jauh-jauh..supaya dekat gig, boleh mosh..pastu boleh enjoy..so sape2 yang datang ade idealogi tu kena tinggalkan kat rumah..macam tu eh..aku dengar orang cite kat aku..hehehe…tak tahu la betul ke tak..hehehhe” – Rizie
Good Clean Fun
What Corporate Rock Cant Say
It’s true actually…, I was there when this happen, It happen during this fight at Come Back Kid gig at zouk, They were arguing about some issue and then out of nowhere this dude came and said “hey idealogi-idealogi tak payah nak bukak, kita semua sini music-music je”. neraka aperkah yg sedang berlaku…???
asyik-asyik nak gaduh jer…. masuk gusti laaa…
buat malu jer kat omputeh tu..
To MadMax
To civil Disorder.
THANKS CIVIL.
yeah..everyone is free to corporate with the businessman!
tersentuh lak jiwa naluri ku yg luhur ni…baca huraian einseconds ni…
walaupun jiwa naluri ku tersentuh…. tetapi aku bukan golongan lelaki gemalai yer….
* this is not a provoke statement.
Are you one of them Watai?
u’re welcome einseconds…actually i’m not the right person to give some speeches on stage (mcm YB laa pulak) especially for subject education like ” to be a good manner at shows”….. one more thing, i’m already revealed myself by this nickname (watai)….because all my friends call me watai…for a new friend like u einsecond (kengkawan panggil awak einsecond kerr…) maybe don’t know me…It’s not a matter of brave or not, its up to you how u wanna judge or label me…;-)
boring ah dgn MYHC ni seme
tah pape dah skng

DEAR MR EIN OF SECOND COMBAT….
Thanks EIN. .
kalau aku ada (DIY) band, i’ll play for passion
serious!
thats my choice!
oooh kalo aku ade band aku xnak terikat dengan diy nih..
oooh kalo aku ade band, aku nak band aku tu DIY dan indiependent..tapi aku nak masuk rancangan melodi..boleh tak?
hehehe…
“terikat dengan DIY”
tepuk dada tanya selera, boss. tak kenal maka tak cinta.
No bosses, no masters!
Anyway, is there a new flyer for this show??? Can someone send me. I need to update the info and stuff.
cheers,
joe
Dear Civil Disorder Dude
I just hope people would understand, maybe we have different taste of music, ideas, but still we share the same things that is our scene. if ideas makes us go separate ways, Im offering my friendship so that we still can shake each others hand when we meet.
tu laa.. saper suruh ikat “DIY” tu….. be free laa sedara…freedom
“Kalau lah sebab utama kitorang bermain musik sebab kerana duit, dah lama dah kitorang quit tak pun buat band indie and then go big la.” – verse.

Pijan
Aku keje bangunan sebelah kau la siot, lain kali kasi call la,bole lepak kat mamak depan Ambank waktu balik keje ngorat ngorat aweks kat sebelah..
ein nak autograph..hehe
Orait ein.hari jumaat kalau xde apa2 aku contact kau waktu sembayang.
Hmm..lepas aku baca Ein punya komen ni baru aku perasan, betul lah kebanyakan budak2 yg involve dlm hc /punk /indie kat malaysia ni dtg dpd family middle class dan ke atas. Sesiapa yg lahir dlm working class family tu mesti dapat rasa apa yg aku cakap ni.
siot penat aku type x masuk plk tadi.
yo ein..nanti aku contact kau waktu smbyg jumaat ke.
kau keje mana?aku cam biasa la co. construction..
oh ya, dpd komen si ein kat atas ada satu benda yg mmg aku setuju.
Kebyakan scenester /undergrounders culture kat malaysia ni especially mmg lahir dpd family middle-class dan ke atas. Sesapa yg lahir dpd working class family mmg akan faham dan dpt rasa benda ni.
Vegetarian..hmm aku pernah veggie setahun tp bila dah keje line heavy industry ni aku x larat, badan aku lemah dan x cukup nutrien makan sayur je. Tp for sure aku x ambik red meat sampai skg..Sebenarnya vegan /veggie ni mmg dah mcm culture utk Europe/US scene tp kat Asian scene secara average nya punk2 kat sini mkn daging. Cakaplah true mcm mana pun, inilah realitinya. Dia ckp kesian nak lepas ular sawa tu kat tepi jalan takut kena bunuh. Nak bagi pd zoo diorang beli RM3/= je seekor..Kalau korang apa korang buat?
Hmm nanti Gasoline main aku nak bwk lah ular sawa tu. Gimmick skit! haha
hehe..pada pendapat aku la..promote dgn media, jadi media yg control.
orang tgk hc sebagai 1 benda yg cool :),media takkan siarkan
ape2 yg rebel, just bagitau inilah aktiviti anak2 muda..nak reach massa dengan media?kan ikut cara media.
Kita ni hidup zaman mana ya skarang ni? realiti atau fantasi? sedangkan pantai pon berubah dihempas ombak inikan manusia yang mudah lupa.
“DIY are revolted from traditional to Modern. No more Tape dubbing, cutting your own lyrics sheets, tshirts are becoming more quality, fanzines are proprinted and colourful.Power of productions all in hands, from pressing, selling, market and distributed it.We still have our bussiness in our hands that is still DIY and no need to explain about it”. – Einseconds
“And the way to go is to BE YOURSELF and DO WHAT YOU WANT. Thats the basics of DIY, other than that it’s all ism and skism.
Other people can say this and that, and want you to follow THEIR rules and wishes. They will complain, yell at you and they will try to put you down, but only you know who your are and what you want. ” – joe kidd
“Well this world would be good but what’s the used if it just become a trend and nobody give a fuck about the idea. I don’t mind too if they want to wear a STRAIGHT EDGE t-shirt, but can you stand it when a person wear the t-shirt, act all macho and tough then later come to you and said your not Straight Edge, Go hang out somewhere else because your not one of us!” – civil disorder
whats wrong is right, whats right is right, whats right is wrong. believe in your heart and be yourself..!
Nama pon media massa duan.. takkan dorang nak tutup periuk nasik dorang sendiri.. skarang ni kan zaman duit.. citer pasal rebel2 kang kene banned dengan ehem ehem.. ahaha… apa yang boleh tarik perhatian umum itulah yang dorang carik.. jadi takkan kita nak salahkan media sebab jadikan hcpunk ni cool. (cool ke jadi hcpunk?)
so.. what can we do? be a media against the media.
oh.. joe.. aku dah sent kat mail dungboy last few week.. cuba check balik.. mungkin awak terlepas pandang..
jadi takkan kita nak salahkan media sebab jadikan hcpunk ni cool. (cool ke jadi hcpunk?)
so.. what can we do? be a media against the media. – kenet.
habis tu , salahkan band yang kononnya hcpunk ,tetapi gunakan media yg kononnya untuk spread msg ” be a media against the media ” , tiba-tiba lain pula yg jadi, media telah gunakan untuk menjadikan hcpunk ini cool. satu lagi produk baru dari media muncul. siapa yang guna siapa? hahaha
