United Assault – Dubai, UAE Underground Compilation CD – Out Now!
You may have first heard about Dubai’s underground via our friends, the now seemingly defunct GRAND HOTEL PARADOX who came to tour the region in June 2011. There must have been a few compilations of UAE bands before (at least one or two) but it’s high time we check out what’s happening there nowadays.
The compilation is being done via Criminal Records, a new entity run by none other than Filipino hardcore-punk warhorse Reypeace (ex-BIOFEEDBACK). A displaced man possessed, Reypeace is now also running the Dubai-based fanzine Wrong Choice of Words (two issues out!), continuing his prior work with Anti zine and Keep Da Faith zine, along with playing with the new band I CEASE.
We at ricecooker has yet to hear the comp but it does seems to feature various styles under the sandstorms there, from hardcore-punk to metal.
