The Ricecooker Shop 2.0!
There have been changes going on at the ricecookershop, both in terms of management and the shop itself. First of all we have been rearranging the furniture around, throw out some things and added others. It looks a bit different now, hopefully a lot more efficient in space usage. Our new friend Lena said that it now looks like a proper shop instead of somebody’s living room!

On the management side, we have Shammir (Basement Records) coming in as the lord of book-keeping and stocks! Also Wan Hazril (Cactus Records) as the 2nd in command of the unruly CD racks! Helping out regularly, will be Atia acting as the curatorial director of “not too grungy” aesthetics.
The old crew; constant cave-dweller Aiman (FRU/Dum Dum Tak) and me (Joe) will always be there as per usual, while free-agent Bebe Cobra will slot in his presence as long as his new baby boy is safely tucked away.
Thanks to Ahmad (ASAS), Rudy (Blastwork), Pijan (Gasoline Grenade) and many others who have been helping us out. Hopefully once everything is back in order, other currently secret “world domination” plans will be launched on you unsuspecting consumers.

pesonally maybe perhaps some stuff from Ebullition (espcially the Econochrist discography) or maybe from Tent City Records (leftover crack/choking victim/indk/the foamers/dirty south revolutionaries/) would be super awesome.

A.T released leftover crack/ citizen fish split LP as well, and if not mistaken fat wreck on CD .. i’ll get that LP soon for me.
its very possible to make those stuffs available at the shop on vinyls or CDs very soon, its not hard to find maybe old releases.. yes!
on other hands. those stuffs mention only available thru wholesale with oversea distribution – and the selling price estimated more than RM50 for CDs and much more for LPs (the shop mark up estimated 15%-30%)
So, anyone interested to buy those stuffs – could pre order from us with cash deposit. (we don’t want to have bad stocks that cost us a fortune) –
we going to wholesale every month – we deal with few distribution that carry thousand labels .. i’ll thinking of one system where people could pre order ,etc

Books from AK Press and others related distrobution. So i won’t waste my time at post office instead and waiting for my books to arrived..i can just go there and grab some
more zines? razorcake, sfl, etc.
Some stuff that i think worth to bring here should be most stuff from ” Deranged records” like fucked up, observer, red dons etc. and also “tank crimes” records do have lotsa good stuff…
actually my own most wanted would (preferably on cd format):
Leftover Crack – “Fuck World Trade” (alternative tentacles)
Leftover Crack/Citizen Fish – “Deadline” (fat wreck chords)
Choking Victim – “No Gods/No Managers” (hellcat records)
any one of those would make my life happier 🙂 hehe
the shop going to carry zine like MRR , SFL, razorcake, give me back, Profane existence on regular basis (limited quantities) and other zine as well (any suggestion ?) – Few parties plan to wholesale it and regularly put it at the shop.
I have few back issues of MRR and SFL, and will put it soon.
About books from AK press or other paper distribution, the situation same like CD and vinyl‚Äôs mention earlier, we need to wholesale it… we can’t trade and the cost is high

The selling price estimated around RM100 more or less
so, we need to have pre order – at least if we’re wholesale 20 books, we already manage to sold 10-15 books, it same like if we wholesale 20 x LPs, 10 x LPs already sold, the shop or local distro/label wouldn’t losing much or any money. if the wholesale items not sold.
if not, the shop or the distro/label can’t wholesale it again… and the stories going around and around
deranged records and tank crimes records will soon hit the shop, but need to sell previous wholesale items first, got around 50 or more titles on LP will hit the store soon.
by the way, if anyone would like to bring and put any items mention here at the shop, you’re welcomed and really appreciated… books, zine, LPs, CDs, tapes, etc
but tell us first; at least we don’t have pending titles and the shop overflow with same titles that can’t sell…
we’re looking forward to stock variety items at the shop…

how about putting out a monthly or bi-monthly newsletter catalogue?
simply zine-alike but also filled with reviews on ricecooker distro items, local releases and such.
im more willing to help to make that happened.

On Wreck Gemuk Records case, yeah support who support you and dont support who doesn’t! That’s my advice.

Subhumans are still D.I.Y. enough to gain some respect in my opinion…they always make a point to tour the U.S. with a bona-fide, straight U/G band-they’ve toured with Caustic Christ, I Object!, and I think they’re gonna do the West Coast with Conquest For Death…they make a point to play at Punk venues, so…don’t write ’em off just because they’re on Fat Wreck…I got to see them with I Object! and the show was chaotic/P.A.F….
As for a wish-list…I’d like to Fascist Insect’s split 7″ with NECROCANNIBALISTIC VOMITORIUM (www.myspace.com/necrocannibalisticvomitorium) up in that bad boy…(sorry about the blatant plug-but it is coming soon…:)

That would be lovely-I would REEEEAAAAALLLYYY like some local releases-I am also planning to re-release our debut EP ‘Death to the Fascist Insect that Preys Upon the Blood of the People’ (sket nye panjang title)-so I guess you could say that’s the way it is with us-an EP here, a 7″ there…mainly ‘cuz we’re po’ white trash who can’t afford to put out a full-length…but yeah-I’ll let you guys know what the dealio is when I do 🙂

yes .. we’re regularly bring those stuffs from those labels mention above. either CDs or vinyls as well – i think around 20-30 titles of CDs and around 20 – 30 titles of vinyls … (LPs + 7ep) will hit the shop soon
we try to set mailorder for ricecooker shop as soon as possible

i have frequent the shop quite a number of times.i think im the 1 who bought everything released by profane n six weeks in the shop.i think aiman will recognise me if he sees me again.i think rm25 or 30 for a profane existence cd is fucking dirt cheap.coz im spending at least rm60 on imported cd in spore.is it possible to list down the cds u have once the stock arrive? coz im based in jb and theres no way i can go over to kl anytime soon.if theres a list,i can at least request for reserve.

theres not much shops in singapore that sells good hcpunk stuffs but you can check out straits records or ignite and but i dont think theres stuff that you want at those shops.
Loads of Profane existence,havoc,625thrash,six weeks etc stuffs are brought in by local Distros here like Epidemic distro,goxkillxyourself distro,Thrash steady syndicate.. they always put up an updated list on lioncitydiy.com forum under ‘bazaar’ . do contact them if you want any since alot of jb kids also ordered from them.

just wait for update list from time to time, we ‘ve alots of stock coming in, and alots of people are waiting for it …
i think around 1-2 week time, everything will set up – the store and mailorder as well ..
*note : reserved policy is limited to 1 week only for mailorder and 4 days only by hand at the shop, after that time the items will be put at the rack back !! sorry for this restricted policy due of past experience at the shop – reserved items left for few months without anyone pick it up .. !!
