The Ricecooker Fanzine: Needs Your Support, Collaboration & Ads!
The Ricecooker Shop and friends will soon put out a fanzine of our own and it’s going to be called (imaginatively) as “The Ricecooker”. At this point, we’ve had a few meetings and delegating work for the volunteers. Our aim to highlight the Southeast Asian region, so the content will hopefully reflects that. Those who want to come in and help out with ideas, artworks, writings etc, do contact us.
Meanwhile, we are looking for funds to finance the whole thing and make it a sustainable project. One of the main ways is to look for those who are interested to buy advert-space in the fanzine. Now, lets go over to co-ordinator Encik Shammir for details:
The Ricecooker will be a Southeast Asia-wide collective-run pro-printed fanzine featuring tonnes of columns, audio and zine reviews, interviews, scene reports, artwork and special sections such as A Blast from the Past, a section dedicated to the historical part of the region’s scene.
The 1st issue will feature 40 pages on A4 newsprint. To make the zine available for FREE or at the COST PRICE, we’re offering ads space. Below is the ads price and size, if you’re interested, please contact us. Thank in advance !

Well..tema? maksud kau fanzine tema?
Kalau nak ikut contoh fanzine lain macam MRR, Razorcake, Profane Existence, SF&L etc..walau apa pun tema yang keluar untuk setiap issue tu, columnist tetap stay dengan cerita masing-masing dalam column diorang.
Maksudnya, tema setiap issue boleh di kongsi dalam satu artikel lain samaada akan ditulis beramai-ramai atau oleh seorang penulis sahaja.
Jadi orang tak akan bosan untuk baca setiap story dari columnist dengan kisah-kisah yang pelbagai.

Yuen, personally I would like to know what’s happening in Kuching in terms of the DIY scene. But I think you can append that after the main article (of whatever you want). But it’s up to you really. Currently we have no limit of words per column (but MRR has started to feature that in their latest issues) but do keep it within reasons.

i dunno about you guys, but i would love to read about how did you guys got introduced to hc/punk (or the underground scene if you would like to generalize), get involved with the hc/punk scene, back in the old days. and describing how it was back then compared to now. like introductory la ni kononnya. there are different people do columnis for this zine and i’m sure you guys have your own stories, different timefame and different point of views. i’m pretty sure people would be interested in reading that la i think. i dunno, just my suggestion lah boss(es) hahaha

OK oraits. I have obliged myself to come out with the Kuching scene report, but that is yet to be done- as I need to interview the bands a little, synthesize, write, and then send back to the bands/individuals involved for feedbacks on how they think it is written, edit, and then baru siap.

first of all, thanx kepada sesiapa yang datang melawat aku di hospital -share a laugh ..its really reduce my pain he he
currently, aku berehat to recover of my 15 jahitan and all my virus internally after being thru an operation. its might takes around 2-3 weeks or maybe 1 month.
hope all audio reviewer do visit the ricecooker shop for doing the review soon.. (more more honest review) also the columnist do submit their column before 31st december as we work on dateline (actually we have a standard of 1000-1500 words per column)
i still waiting for ads payment, its seem not so banyak – but the zine will goes on cost price as we’ve agreed. below RM2.00 each.
i hope local labels support more on ads payment, cos its seem oversea label more much interested to put their ads – what happen to the local scene, man ?
Few update :
first of all – Sorry !! the zine is delayed due of my absent for around 2 months.
the ads payment/donation still far away from our target to make the zine available for Free. yet the zine will available at printing cost minus the ads space payment + donation.
