Saturday, 27th June 2006: The Exploited Gig in Subang Jaya: Barmy Army Indeed!
The Exploited is gig is now moved to the ol’ Paul’s Place on Sunday 28th May 2006.
Please read the post above for details.
THIS IS A RUNNING REPORT. THE NEWS AS IT HAPPENS!
This is a series of reports made through-out the day of Saturday 27th May 2006 concerning a show featuring UK’s veteran punk band The Exploited which was supposed to held at a hotel in Subang Jaya. This gig has somehow encountered difficulties and stirred quite a bit of drama and suspense. Please read from the first post below and go upwards, to see the full story.
ON HINDSIGHT: 1.10AM (Sunday)
As Rafil mentioned in the comments below, “I believe this was conjecture. Don‚Äôt think anyone knows for sure the reason for the cancellation/postponement.”, I too believe all of these “reports” are all based on unsubstantiated claims or uncomplete info, and should only be taken as such.
Maybe we’ll get the full picture once I meet and ask the organisers themselves tomorrow.

REPORT: 9.13PM
Convinced by Fadhil’s suggestion that the show will happen later tonight, I got ready to go and see The Exploited. Got my camera and my video cam too but I decided to go have dinner first. And so after the last bit of ikang kari gulped down and washed with limau ais, I called Fadhil again. Apparently the show has been postponed till tomorrow. Same time, same place.

PREVIOUS REPORTS BELOW:
REPORT: 7.04PM
A call I made to Rafil just now gave me a different scenario. First, one of the organisers, a skinhead by the name of “Ayed” was telling Rafil that they are planning to have the show happening at another venue for Sunday tomorrow.
Among other things, “Ayed” (sorry, a misquote there, it’s actually Shaiful Y2K who said this to Rafil, see comments below) reportedly said that one of the core organisers actually paid somebody to get the permits and they actually got the permits from the 3rd party but the problem is that later the permit was found to be fake!
Rafil also mentioned that according to the MPSJ officer he talked to, apparently there’s no way the body will give out permits for these past few weeks as the director is not in town, away overseas. He said that they would need a full month to process the permit.
Yup! Huge drama is brewing up there in Subang Jaya at this very moment. Stay tune for more news!

REPORT: 6.49PM
Apparently the show is going on! It’s gonna be at the same venue (see flyer) but probably starts late, maybe round 9PM 0r 10PM. All of that according to Fadhil just now. Should I stay or should I go. Hmmm.
============================
REPORT: 5.45PM
Still negotiating. That’s what Fadhil told me. he also mentioned that maybe the venue will be moved to Planet Hollywood. Hmmmm.
============================
REPORT: 4.42PM
Talked to Fadhil MuzikBox just now. According to him there were about 600 kids already there when this thing happened. He also mentioned that the organisers actually have got the permits! And that they are now negotiating with the MPSJ officers.
Fadhil was organising another Exploited show in Singapore way before the Subang Jaya show was confirmed. But since the show is happening in Subang Jaya, the Singapore show was cancelled.
============================
REPORT: 4.11PM
Show’s apparently cancelled! Dang! here’s the report from Rafil: “Spoke to MPSJ enforcement. They said no permit. Show cancelled. Fortunately equipments not confiscated”
Minutes later Rafil reported that the officer said; “They don’t have any permit, They are not allowed to proceed with the show. Show’s cancelled”
Oh dear. I heard that the fee to bring The Exploited in is already around RM 15,000, add in the PA nd sound system and the venue’s rental, and it’s a huge disaster. This is weird because I heard that they’ve got the permits secured about two to three weeks ago.

FIRST POST: 3:45PM
Many of you have been asking me about The Exploited gig happening in Subang Jaya today. Well, I have been reluctant to say anything about it, since I’m not too keen on many of the bands playing and I’m much too skint to go and see the notorious Wattie and gang anyway.
However, as I’m sitting here at home I got a call from Rafil 360° Head Rotation, reporting from the scene a few minutes ago (about 3.40 PM). According to him there are two large trucks with cages (the ones usually used by the authorities to round up immigrants and such) parked outside of the venue. They are apparently the Subang Jaya City Council’s trucks and some of its officials were seen going into the venue.
Rafil also reported that there are about 100 kids loitering outside, while the bands are doing soundcheck.
So, will there be a raid? Will the show be stopped? The kids herded onto Police yards again? Will the new years kambing hitam incident repeats itself? We’ll wait and see.

“Among other things, ‚ÄúAyed‚Äù reportedly said that one of the core organisers actually paid somebody to get the permits and they actually got the permits from the 3rd party but the problem is that later the permit was found to be fake!”
I got the above description from Saiful, Y2K. I believe this was conjecture. Don’t think anyone knows for sure the reason for the cancellation/postponement.
Rafil
Thanks Rafil, You’ve just taught me a new word.
