The Daighila Deportation Debacle: Some Thoughts

Just read the article on Daighlia and their following comments – some interesting comments and some hmm weird thoughts…
I was wandering if it would be possible to write an article for Ricecooker about Immigration and Customs in OZ and what happens here for Australians and what Malaysians or anyone MUST understand from a basic rights point of view.
for example any more then 3 cds, cassettes etc of a singular release (eg. Steve Towson “Shah Mat” even if an Australian brings it in) is considered a violation of customs. For an Australian this means a fee; for a foreign citizen, it’s a violation of customs and reason to reject application.
Saying your are touring as a musician and not working is also a violation of a tourist visa as it is technically work and a person should be using a Entertainment Visa. Daighlia were lucky to get away with a slap on the wrist.
Entertainment Visas are complicated process, Ive looked into it $$$$$tousands of dollars to apply and you need criminal record and health records certified by your home government
anyway – that is a brief speel. Let me know you thoughts and if you see the Daighlia crew – pass on my sympathies and regrets, customs and immigration anywhere in the world are fucked places.

ya lah memang joe ada bayar sama itu hantu jembalang memporak perandakan dia punya periok nasi. joe kidd memang ada simpan toyol dan bomoh sebab kat sini bukan banyak samseng dan mamat yang lancang lidah, kat sini banyak yang mengumpat macam pondan ketagihkan batang aje. jadi pijan tu dah jadi macam lebai sama saja macam aku cuma ini dua lebai ada kurang ajar punya dan kadang ladang macam shiok sendiri aje hehe

sometimes immigration ppl always made me laugh..standing hours at narita’s while the officer look at my photo on my pasport and seaman books coz i am look different on both..lol then he have to ask another 9 officer opinion n after that they let go me hahaha and malaysia immgtn auth that i hv been dealing with for the pass 1 year quit cool lah but then its another story..
btw gig 98 kat klang tu memang layan..tapi lupa kat ner since mabuk dah kat sebelah chi-liung plaza masa tu hahaha zaman klang mundur dah terasanya kini..still remember lepak2 with some of the anarcho-punk guys and give some mcshit brocure to public in front of KFC jalan taiping hahah
