First solo exhibition of GOH Lee Kwang Europe return artist GOH Lee Kwang will have his first solo exhibition in Malaysia, presenting his works covering sound, video, visual, media and installation.

This exhibition will show the works which was setup in Germany and The Netherlands, as well as a new work, a very site specific piece: “Sing-Along…Comfort”. “Sing-Along…Comfort” is a 2 site/ mirror piece which 1 part will setup at the National Art Gallery’s cabin, and exhibition space outside the main building, which make special for young artist; and another part of the work will set at the major exhibition space, R.A.P. (Rumah Air Panas).

In 2004 GOH was invited to setup an installation at “Klangraum Festival” (1), Stuttgart, Germany. He setup the work called “Rhythm Jukebox”, a sound/ visual installation with a no-LP turntable (instead of the LP, he replace with a LD, laser disk, the formed DVD ), and display with season decoration (The first version was called “Christmas version”, the second version was called “summer version”).

Then, he set this work up again when he was the guest artist at the “stDSPS”, The Netherlands Art Collective in Rotterdam. Image, video documentation of this work can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/rjb_jukebox In the summer of 2004, the artist also setup a simple sound installation for the summer fest of the Akademie Schloss Solitude, where the artist stay as the resident artist for 15 months, the title of this work simply called “Sound Installation #1”.

“Sound Installation #1” is an interactive installation which request the audience/ public to “put- your-hand-on” the work to make it function. The work was selected as part of the Film Winter, Media In Raum Exhibition 2005 (2), in WKV, Stuttgart, Germany.

GOH will also setup a sound room at the major exhibition space to play his selected sound works. And he will also do a live performed for the opening of the exhibition, and some event will also planned during the exhibition.

(1) Klangraum Festival: Klangraum (Sound room) festival is a yearly music festival for contemporary music which started 20 years ago, one of the bigger contemporary music event covering composed music, improvised music, sound installation and also development of music technologies.

(2) Film Winter: Film Winter (Winter Film) is the yearly international festival featuring film, music, art and new media. The participant of the festival came from all over the world.
