Crux: SEA Tour & Debut 7″ Available!
Crux is yet another Australian band coming in to sample the sambal of Boleh-land during their Southeast Asian tour. Unlike Cut Sick though, the young band is more on the heavy, frantic & dark crust leaning (a bit like fellow Aussies Schifosi, sans the epic drama) and they are bloody good!

Before that, here’s a bit of a review for Crux’s debut 7″, now available at The Ricecooker Shop, written by Ken S for MRR:
Dark, throaty, female vocals growl over four tracks of blistering thrash that slows to build a brooding mood before turning back to a fast assault of up-tempo hardcore.
While this Australian band has unmistakable modern His Hero is Gone-esque influences and occasional musical flourishes (and the chops to pull them off), something about the basic, solid recording and simple-yet-effective attack of the music brings to mind lots of great thrash and hardcore from the early ’90s – Disrupt, Deformed Conscience, etc. – where the intent was more influenced by hardcore than metal.
It’s refreshing to hear a band seemingly defining its own sound as opposed to “sounding like X,”and the lyrics have and introspective and thoughtful edge on otherwise staid punk topics. Cool.

we’re so sorry to inform that the venue to their KL show had been
changed again.
but only to be officially disclosed near to their show date.
we’re also so and so sorry to inform that due to the mutual agreement with the new venue management and local authorities, their show will have to be strictly a no smoking and NO ALCOHOL one.
if we all could respect the venue, we would not have any problems doing shows in future, remember the annexe? this is one of the major reasons the central market management wouldnt let any shows happening at the annexe anymore. i bet lots of you didnt know that!
so, everyone’s co-operation would be kindly appreciated.

ke hadapan kawan-kawan yang amat saya hormati sekalian.
maaf kerana terpaksa menggunakan ruangan di sini untuk sekali lagi untuk menerangkan kenapa
pihak venue baru show crux nanti tidak mampu memberi kompromi kepada konsumsi minuman keras di dalam venue mereka.
saya fikir lebih baik di sini daripada cuba untuk menyampaikannya kepada seorang demi seorang. kita dan kawan-kawan yang lain nampaknya tidak punya pilihan selain daripada terpaksa memahami rasional permintaan secara baik pihak studio (anak-anak muda pemuzik bebas yang sepertinya tidak berfikiran sempit, bahkan mendukung perlunya venue untuk show2 DIY dan independent).
saya rasa selepas membaca apa yang saya bakal tuliskan selepas ini, semua kawan-kawan juga bakal faham yang penjelasan ini langsung tidak berniat untuk menyinggung perasaan sesiapa.
ternyata sekali anak-anak muda ini terpaksa akur dengan keadaan masyarakat sekeliling mereka yang tidak memungkinkan toleransi terhadap konsumsi minuman keras. tambahan lagi anak-anak muda ini juga terpaksa mendapatkan kebenaran daripada pihak penguasa (yang kebetulan juga jiran dekat!) untuk hanya berkumpul bersama kawan-kawan seperti kita, bermain muzik dsb.
seperti yang kita semua sedia maklum, venue ini juga merupakan hasil titik peluh dan periuk nasi anak-anak muda ini dan kita juga bakal menerima tetamu-tetamu yang berkunjung semata-mata untuk berkongsi show kecil ini bersama kita. walaupun ruang anak-anak muda ini hanya sewaan kita buat beberapa jam, setidak-tidaknya kita semua pasti mahukan tetamu-tetamu kita nanti tidak bakal menghadapi masalah-masalah dengan pihak penguasa yang kita sememangnya boleh elakkan bersama.
yang paling penting untuk diperjelaskan disini yang tidak ada sesiapa daripada kita semua mahu atau berhak menentukan atau mempersoalkan cara dan pegangan hidup sesiapa. saya bukannya straightedge, bahkan seorang perokok tegar dan juga minum! walaupun saya terpaksa menghormati permintaan anak-anak muda di studio itu, tetapi rasanya kita tetap lebih untung kerana masih dapat bermain muzik dengan sewa yang berpatutan, menerima kunjungan kawan-kawan dari luar dan berkumpul bersama teman-teman lain.
ps: buat kawan-kawan! camnilah, jum kita ke tempat yang ‘liberal’, yang dulu once ‘a democratic space for shows’ (hint!), lepas gig tu? ambien tempat itu kan sangat sesuai untuk ‘bersembang anggur merah ’! sorry aku taip skema gila, panjang sangat. aku tak berapa ada masa nak check ricecooker selalu, lagipun aku tak suka ber-chatting ala mirc kat message board! so kalau teruja nak comment, baik call jer lah aku, pasal kalau kat sini, aku tak peduli, opps..tader time nak reply.
pps: apa kata korang beli 7” crux, tak bergerak pun kat ricecooker! duit jualan tu crux yang dapat nanti.
