Life Without Buildings – Live LP out now!

I wanna share my joy of finally getting a collection of mp3s that is Life Without Buildings‘ first and final album Any Other City (2001).
I first found out about the band in 2004 on the net while scouring for Sarah Records recordings (which I actually have in abundance now!). I stumbled upon an mp3 of “Lets Get Out” from the album mentioned and immediately fell in love with the whole Glasgow post-punk/indie-pop scene all over again.
Listen to this tell me what you think:

Lets Get Out by Life Without Buildings
Life Without Buildings is no longer around but they do have a MySpace page nowadays, along with a posthumous release of their live album! The album, Live at the Annandale Hotel was recorded December 14th 2002 in Sydney, Australia and it featured 12 tunes (some of which were leaked on the net a few years ago).
It’s baffling how an excellent band such as LWB would die off just like that. They were not only unique, articulate, brimming with new ideas but the songs! dang! the band’s front-woman’s talk / sing / poetry-recital style really would benefit this world now bereft of good unapologetic Patti Smith-ing!
Musically, it’s that wonderful Sarah Records raw, DIY, amateurish spirit all over again, this time tempered with mid-70s New York guitars of Television and early Talking Heads quirks. The same sort of angle found on the earlier Arcade Fire releases but while Arcade Fire is now huge, LWB is dead.
