Terrorizer’s ulra-mega evergreen classic “Fear of Napalm” from World’s Downfall LP
Ricecooker note:
Jesse Pintado may have been a regular fixture in the realms of Napalm Death but the more exciting chapter of his creative life was with the legendary Los Angeles band Terrorizer. To this very day, Terrorizer’s World’s Downfall (1989) is still one of the most astounding albums to ever come out of the early grindcore scene.
The more purist of fans would say that the album is amazing due to the inclusion of vocalist Oscar Garcia’s material taken from his other, more-DIY and hence unknown/unsung band Nausea; but for me, it’s the combination of that, Pete Sandoval’s utterly breathtaking pummelling and or course, Pintado’s thick, fuck-off riffage that has always been a truly amazing earwax bulldozer.
Even before the album was released, Pintado was invited to go to the UK and join Napalm Death, replacing Bill Steer who went on to form Carcass. There he stayed for a long time until he got kicked out from the band in 2004. Soon after, Pintado reformed Terrorizer with original drummer Pete Sandoval (who had gone on to join Morbid Angel), his old friend Anthony Rezhawk (singer of Resistant Militia, a band Pintado used to play in before joining Terrorizer) and also Morbid Angel’s guitarist Tony Norman on bass.
The new version of Terrorizer released their long-awaited follow-up LP, Darker Days Ahead a few days ago. I have yet to listen to it but hardcore fans has been complaining that it’s not the same.
