Leaving Normal: Abu Kelabu (2003-2009)

Our dear cat Abu, much loved in this household and adored by visiting friends and bands through out the years, died last night.
The son of matriarch Beansy, Abu Kelabu was born in November 2003 and has been our hairy bundle of joy for many years. He was also called as “The Tikus” by our friends upstairs. Quiet, shy, gentle and very affectionate, Abu embarked upon a big adventure about two years ago. He went missing for almost 10 months, roaming the hill as a stray cat and stealing food from the neighbours.
We found him again a few doors down the hill when an irate neighbour complained about this hairy stray cat which has been trying to get it on with her own cat the Lady Jennifer. The neighbour castrated the poor guy and sent him back to us.
Last night we found Abu prone under the kitchen rack, with both of his hind legs paralysed. We thought something may have fallen on him, or that he could have jumped atop the cupboard, fell and broke his back. He was conscious but visibly in pain.
We drove him to the vet at midnight and he was diagnosed as suffering from Aortic Thromboembolism, “a common complication associated with all types of heart disease” in cats. Further read: here
Abu is survived by his brothers Grey, Ben and Guts.
