Ianonymous AKA Bubble Boy: Politics

Politics
by Ianonymous
OK This is about politics, but before you switch off & stop reading this because you say you’re not political & have no interest in politics whatsoever, just give me a minute. The first thing i want to say is that NOBODY is apolitical! Even if you’ve never voted in your entire life or never intend to even(which is a perfectly valid choice!), the way you live your life is a political statement in itself!
In fact it’s the only REAL kind of political statement there is! I’m talking about your core values & your belief system. And if what you SAY you believe in doesn’t reflect in your actions & your lifestyle, well you’re just practising hypocrisy then! But more about hypocrisy in a while. First let’s look at the main political philosophies available & try to identify which ones you subscribe to.
It’s generally accepted that there are three main political schools of thought which can be separated into conservative, liberal & radical. But I like to believe that if we just ignore the conservatives for long enough they’ll eventually go away; so I’m not even going to deal with them & their short-sighted, insular, intolerant bigotry. Which leaves us with liberal & radical thought.
Now the word radical has almost become a joke & certainly not used in “serious company” these days unless you want to be taken for some nutty extremist hell bent on chaos & anarchy. But I’m not talking about making Molotov cocktails & blowing up government buildings when i use the word radical. I’m really talking about an attitude or approach to things, which also forms the basis of who you are & how you choose to live life.
The first entry for the word “radical” from the on-line dictionary source dictionary.com is; something “Arising from or going to a root or source”, like radical surgery to remove a malignancy for example. Therefore radicalism is really an approach to life in only ever being concerned & interested in getting to the HEART of the matter! As opposed to being distracted & side tracked by the little things which are really only symptoms of the core problem(small specifics liberals are so famous for trying to solve, but at best are only able to manage).
And because ANYTHING & almost EVERYTHING wrong in the world today(or in society at least) can be traced back to humans & “human nature”, that’s really all I’m interested in. PEOPLE!
So in my opinion the only way we can affect REAL change in society & the world as a whole is in dealing with PEOPLE & their problems on the most basic level, which will take generations certainly, but only if we start NOW! WITH OURSELVES & then our families & then our friends & then our co-workers & anyone else we come into contact with. Which is why it hardly matters to me who gets voted into office or not, because the REASON so many people make all these bad decisions in the first place is because so many of us are screwed up in one way or another. I mean, If we’re lucky the majority doesn’t vote a complete moron as a leader but very little ever actually changes does it, regardless of who we vote for! Which is why I believe the only logical & realistic way to deal with all these problems that plague modern society is not in a political arena but by dealing with things on the most fundamental level. OURSELVES!
Let’s now talk about liberalism & that whole philosophy(which has now come to be known as the “middle ground”). My problem with liberals is definitely not what they believe in or stand for(because i certainly share those same views & concerns), but rather with their focus & approach in dealing with those problems. Although issues like poverty or crime or whatever DO need to be addressed immediately & directly just to keep the boat from sinking & our heads above water, doing so without also dealing with more underlying issues & thinking about the long term solution is only like plugging a finger in the hole to stop the leak. It doesn’t deal with the heart of the matter. Which is what again? That’s right! You & me!
Or in other words, human nature. And that brings us back to hypocrisy & (in my opinion) how conventional liberalism promotes & perpetuates it by allowing people to delude themselves & others by not dealing with the core of a problem, Themselves. And that only allows people to be one way on the outside & completely different on the inside. Which is why you find people who are tyrants or intolerant or greedy or selfish in private, pretending to be bleeding heart liberals in public. That kind of hypocrisy & deceit really gets up my nose!
END.
