Ricecooker Note: This is a cost-sharing gig where all bands playing pooled together their money to finance the show. According to one of the organisers, Shabri of Ronin Distro, every band paid RM50 to play.

Here’s his explanation: “Bukan kami x boleh nok buat mcm gig2 terdahulu seperti di dewan seri budi dan di Yen Tin tu, yang mana pulangan gig sendiri adalah banyak dan band juga x perlu membayar untuk perform, malah band yang perform dibayar. Bukan gitu, mmglah dulu crowd ramai, tapi outlook melampau sampai nak pengsan owner tgk. kesudahannya tempat tu jd x long last. Sekali je buleh buat lepas tu kena banned. Sekarang, kami buat kami kenalpasti sasaran, tahu siapa yang akan datang tgk.”

Basically, it’s about controlling the amount of people going to the show and to weed out a lot of the “negativity” learned from the previous gigs where a single show would resulted in the venue being off-limits for further gigs. However, I have to say, I don’t see how is that going to be achieved as the ticket is still very cheap and everybody can just go and some of them may still be arseholes who were just out to wreck the gig.

Whatever it is, a gig in Terengganu is always a rare thing, which is why a lot more people should support the organisers and not make it harder for them to do shows.
