Always Last: Antidotes CD – Out Now!
Bought this at the recent Steve Towson gig at the Food Not Bombs house. Haven’t had the time to really sit down with it but do check out the song featured here.
There are many melodic-punk bands around locally and for the past few years there’s a sub-scene of melodic/pop-punk bands with its own gigs and clique, and I must admit I’m not too well-versed about that, Nizang Nervhous would do well if he would do a report on that side of the larger scene.
However, I’ve checked out 679, SKUNKFIX, STICK NO BILLS and many more similar bands popping out into the picture since a few years ago, some of them are good in what they do but mostly they lean towards the FAT WRECK/NUFAN/ATARIS axis and that’s just not my cup of tea.
That said, I do love GASOLINE GRENADE (which is now recording a few songs for a split-7″) and of course, ALWAYS LAST – featuring Tobek (previously in Fags & Stoned), Bulat (Part Time Lovers/Galaga/Hi-Score), Min (Skunkfix/Naratu/Thy Regimen) and Shah (The Mindless Show/Disgruntled) – as both bands feature influences reaching further and beyond the usual 90s commercial pop-punk.
Always Last – Stupid macho band, end (s)hits!
