Giggers Centrestage: New PA & Backline!
A week or so ago, I had an email conversation with some friends who are deep in the loop with the old Paul’s Place (now known awfully as “Giggers Centrestage”). Anyway, in my mail I complained about the long standing issue of the crap sound set-up at the venue, the last straw of which a show I saw at the tail-end of 2006, and I urged the friends to kick Paul’s arse about it.
Here’s Paul Millot with his answer today:
Joe,
In November, I spent RM25,000 on brand new equipment at Paul’s Place. Your comments about the sound are very bad for us.
There are two, brand new MARSHALL stacks, each 250watts. There is a brand new Laney, bass amp, 150 watts, brand new PA speakers and brand new monitors. How can you say it is a bad sound system? Please come and test out the equipment yourself to see how GOOD the sound is.
I know some of the Bands sound like Shit, but that has nothing to do with the equipment. If they don’t know how to play, then no amount of equipment will make it sound good. Example, last Saturday, the keyboard was in a different key to the guitars. They blamed the sound system.
Every GOOD band has congratulated us on the good sound they get from the new amps.
Please come and test the new sound system and let everyone know that any bad sound is from a bad band and not the new Marshall amps. Come soon, as many people are commenting on your remarks, about the new system sounding bad.
Paul.
Congrats Paul, maybe we should mosey on over there and check it out soon!
