One of the most celebrated concert films ever made, capturing the tail-end of the original post-punk explosion; with bands taking ‚Äúpunk‚Äù to differing tangents, sometimes clashing and challenging the old “dis-order”; here lies new ideas, new boundaries, fracturing into a multitude of strange colors.
Several of the bands featured are now known as huge megastars, some stayed enduring cults, while others exploded into the ether, never to be heard of again – all were captured during their prime; when it’s all about waging war against popular music, bringing other agendas into the word “entertainment”.
This feature-length film was shown at most of the Malaysian cinemas in 1982; and later available on VHS tapes at most of the video rental shops in the country then.
It was one of the first filmic introduction of “punk” and its family of noise to the Malaysian audience; way before the arrival of movies such as SUBURBIA or DUDES on more VHS tapes…
* The screening will be followed by a 1 hour discussion session; with a short talk about early Malaysian punk.
* copies of post-punk era (late 70s) music papers will be there for all to touch, read and discuss.
This screening is part of the PUNK ROCK Film Week (26 Sept – 2 Oct) at Kelab 50-B. View the complete schedule here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=257589897612473
