Major Upgrade Fukkups

This site was again gone off-line during the weekend and yesterday too, sorry about that. Thanks to all who wrote in with their grumbles though. I didn’t know.

What happened was the hosting company finally decided to “modernise” its servers, that is upgrading its server engines to the latest MySQL and PHP releases. I’ve been asking them to do that for years to no avail, and when it finally happened it was done without prior notification, so on Saturday if you come to this site, it was featuring the hosting company’s site and not the usual ricecookery. They fukked up.

Anyway, when the upgrade’s done and the site came back up again, the posts were jumbled up – the front page featured ancient first postings from 2005! So I had to get it off-line and took the opportunity to upgrade the wordpress engine (it was stuck at version 2.011 from 2006 because the server was running on MySQL 4 all these years).

So from about 8.30 PM yesterday, this site is now running on the latest WP. I had just finished upgrading a lot plugins, and deleted some obsolete ones. At this point some parts of the site are not working well just yet, but they will be fixed very soon.
