All Go No Slow! Excellent HC Punk Podcast & also local ones too!

All Go No Slow! is a new punk-only podcast started in August and now hosting 6 shows, the latest of which is full of classic Japanese HC punk (Kuro, DSB, The Stalin etc.). There’s not much info on the people doing it but I’m sure it’s American.

So what is “podcast”? well, it’s a radioshow that is posted on the net for people to download and listen to. The only difference from the usual mp3 downloads is that you can subscribe to it via your podcast-enabled audio-player on your computer; for an example, iTunes. If you subscribe to a show or a podcast, iTunes will automatically download new shows for you, so you don’t need to go to the same website and download everytime there’s an update. It’s automatic! And if you have an iPod, the show will be downloaded straight to your iPod (that is if it’s connected to the computer lah!)

Anyway, Maharajah Commission’s drummer and resident loudmouth Alex started what I call as the first Malaysian alt-music podcast series December last year. Go to this site and download his series: BOLEH ROJAK POD. Ricecooker’s Podcast is coming soon, right after I finish this job I’m doing now.

Singapore’s Clement (from the excellent band Ila Mitra) has also started a radioshow but unfortunately it’s not a “podcast”, but more like a streaming net-radio called Unpopular Radio. You can listen to this show according to the time period he is casting, but most of the shows are on a loop, you can catch him antime. You must have a streaming-audio capable audio player on your computer to listen. Clement like a lot of variety is his shows so expect anything from hardcore punk to electronica and indie-rock too!

It’s of course, an extension of the Lion City DIY portal & Forum BUT at the moment there’s no dedicated site for LCUR. Clement said that there’s a site being put together. meanwhile you should go to LCUR’s MySpace < LCUR > or the Lion City DIY Forum for news and updates. The guy who’s doing Unpopular Radio is Singapore is actually Charan, and I’ve met him after my band’s show in Singapore months ago. A very nice guy indeed. You can listen to his show according to the time period he is broadcasting, fortunately most of his shows are on a loop, which means that you can catch him anytime you want. You must have a streaming-audio capable audio player on your computer to listen. Charan likes a lot of variety is his shows so expect anything from hardcore punk to electronica and indie-rock too!

Back to All Slow No Go! It is one of the very few all punk/HC podcast around. There are many “punk”-themed podcasts but a lot of it features crappy commercial emo bands which I can’t stand much. All Go No Slow! is consistent in its selection of great raw and intense punk rock which I’m sure many of us would appreciate. Another bonus is that it’s well-encoded and sounding crispy and nice everytime.

LATEST! Maximum Rock’n’Roll has also started podcasting their radioshow! I’ve been downloading mp3s from them for years, now my iTunes can do it for me!
