Leaving Normal: Tony Wilson 1950-2007
Back in August 1976, he put The Sex Pistols live on British TV and it was the first time punk appeared on the telly, then came the crazy and influential avalanche of great post-punk Manchester madness; Factory Records, Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio, Joy Division, Hacienda Club and so on, and so on. Maybe you’ve seen his fictionalised character on the movie attempting to document the daze, 24 Hour Party People.
I can’t even begin to tell you people how Tony Wilson affected the whole world with his gift. The man died of heart attack last Friday, 10th of August.

his idea on recording joy d’s drum track on the rooftop was brilliant!

the history of post punk in uk.. how warsaw turns to joy d turns to new order..
we need the malaysian version of tony wilson.
Was it Wilson who had Morris go on the roof in the movie? Always thought it was producer/engineer Martin Hannett?
I was watching video of a recent Perfect Circle show, they were dedicating a song to Hannett and they said, “Who’s next? Tony Wilson’s next!”.
Sorry, the song was dedicated to Rob Gretton, not Hannet.
owh sorry panda head curry.. watch it a long time ago…ingat ingat lupa…anyway thanks for the info.
