Unprepared listeners may experience sensory overload. And that’s the precise rationale behind Durio Dulcis, Latin for the sweetest durian.8 ear‚Äôs debut EP pushes the envelope ever so slightly challenging listeners and critics alike.
The artiste behind 8 ears,weishein have been playing music off and on since 1981. Classically trained in the 80s,he learned about audio production DIY-style since the 90s and has been writing songs for more than 10 years.
For the last two years, the KL-based artiste has been programming (usually in the evening alone in the studio) and has a band, Byaduoorgroup, that is in the process of finishing up their debut album.
This debut solo effort is called 8 ears based on an old Chinese saying which means, you don’t understand something after it’s been explained to you. The Durio Dulcis EP is a collection of sounds and songs of experimenting while writing for Byaduoorgroup for the last couple of years.
The music is mostly done through the computer with a little help from an 8 track mixer. The Durio Dulcis EP is available in independent music stores in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and iTunes for downloads.
